History of Health in America
1901 - The
consensus among world authorities was that the US was the healthiest nation in
the world. We’re talking about chronic
degenerative disease. We had more
doctors, nurses, and the best sanitation in the world.
1920 - The US dropped to third place. Why? Sweat shops; smoke
stacks, refrigerators, electric lights, automobiles and their effect?
1945 - We were healthiest nation again. Why? WWII. We had
victory gardens, lights off at dusk, rationing of gas, sugar, chocolate,
gasoline, meat, alcohol, rubber tires. Less medical care.(The doctors were away
at war)
1950 - We dropped to 5th place
1972 - We dropped to 43rd.
1978 - We dropped 81st place
1981 - We fell to 95th place of the 100 in the United
Nations as far as chronic health conditions. Why? We were richest
nation in the world, overuse of antibiotics, and birth control pills. It became illegal to sell non-pasteurized
milk in 49 of the 50 states. There was fast, unhealthy food on every corner.
What is the relationship between
highly processed food and degenerative health conditions. The numbers speak for themselves.
